A new family of advanced system basis chips (SBCs) from Freescale Semiconductor delivers EMC and ESD protection for LIN® vehicle networks. This SBC family includes three highly integrated, pin-compatible devices. The MC33910G5 combines power management capabilities that contribute to low battery discharge during low power modes, a robust LIN (local interconnect network) physical layer, and a high-side driver. The MC33911G5 augments those basic features with a DC motor pre-driver, while the MC33912G5 adds a DC motor pre-driver with current sensing. This product family is well suited to space-constrained, electromagnetically sensitive LIN slave applications, including designs that require motor control and current monitoring. When combined with an 8-bit S08 microcontroller (MCU) or an entry-level 16-bit S12 MCU, these SBC devices can be applied to a wide range of automotive comfort and body applications. According to IEC 61000-4-2, these SBCs will sustain harsh energetic ESD pulses up to ±11 kV without the need for external protection components. Also, the devices’ innovative wave-shaping technology results in ultra-low electronic emissions.Find more product information online.
