DC-DC Converter Features 60-V Transient Protection and Low Output RippleThe LT3509 H Grade from Linear Technology is a dual channel, current mode PWM step-down DC/DC converter with two internal 36-V, 1-amp power switches in an MSOP-16E package. It is tested and guaranteed to a maximum junction temperature of +150 degrees C so it is well suited to the high temperatures found in automotive and industrial applications. For automotive applications, the LT3509’s minimum input voltage of 3.6 V enables it to operate with sub-4V, inputs paramount for automotive cold crank requirements. Similarly, the devices 3-V continuous input capability with 60-V transient protection withstands transients found in load-dump scenarios. The LT3509’s 300-kHz–2.2-MHz switching frequency is user programmable and maximizes efficiency while its tiny, low cost inductors and ceramic capacitors result in low, predictable output ripple.Look for more product information on the Linear Technology website.
