Mike Kroeger has stepped down as Chairperson for RTCA SC-135, he announced at the 55th meeting of RTCA/SC-135, and will be succeeded by Bradley Green of Honeywell International, Inc., in Olathe, Kan. During Kroeger’s time on the committee four revisions (C through F) of the standard were released; three change notices to revision D and revisions E & F were released while he was chairman. RTCA Special Committee 135 is the committee that produces the international de facto standard for environmental testing of commercial avionics. RTCA/DO-160F, Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment, provides a laboratory means to determine the performance characteristics of airborne equipment. RTCA issued DO-160F on Dec. 6, 2007 and is working on version “G,” which is anticipated to be released by the end of 2010. SC-135 meets twice a year with the next planned meeting for Oct. 5-7 at the RTCA offices in Washington, D.C.
