The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued an Order granting additional waivers to public safety licensees to move their broadcasts to different frequencies and thus eliminate the interference that has plagued First Responder radio signals. The original deadline had been June 26, 2008, but some waivers were granted on June 17. In this Order, those agencies that propose to complete their rebanding prior to July 1, 2009.were granted waivers. Those agencies that are still negotiating their move were granted interim waiver relief provided that they submit an interim waiver request no later than July 28, 2008 that includes a proposed rebanding timetable.
