Design Software Analyzes EM Effects of RF and Microwave Components

Electromagnetic Professional (EMPro) from Agilent Technologies is a recently introduced design platform for analyzing EM effects of RF and microwave components such as high-speed IC packages, antennas, on-chip embedded passives, and PCB interconnects. The design process is speeded through an entry system including a 3D drawing environment, importing of 3D CAD files, and integration with Agilent’s ADS (Advanced Design System) and microwave circuit design environment. An intelligent “one-time” materials assignment allows designers to set it and forget it for subsequent data import files. ADS RF designers can import EMPro’s parameterized 3D components such as connectors, solder connections, package lead-frames, or any custom component for EM simulation and optimization in ADS. Also, ADS circuit designers can export layout files and can import them to EMPro for the accurate modeling of 3D effects—e.g., the radiation pattern of a planar antenna molded around the curved surface of a wireless appliance.Find additional product details at the Agilent Technologies’ website.
