Boeing Co.’s 747-8, the company’s biggest jumbo jet, flew for the first time Monday as part of the flight-test program the company aims to complete by the end of the year, first in Washington state and then in California. Once the initial airworthiness and flutter clearance is complete, RC521 will be cleared to fly along with RC522, the second and third 747-8Fs. The 522 will focus on validating the environmental control, hydraulic, electric and electromagnetic interference protection systems, as well as the acoustic performance of the aircraft.Read more about the Boeing 747-8’s first flight.
