FCC Clarifies Use of Recently Published ASC C63®

The FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) has released a Public Notice to clarify the use of measurement standards for Part 15 compliance testing for intentional and unintentional radiators. Section 15.31 of the FCC’s rules states that certain intentional and unintentional radiators must be measured for compliance using the standard published by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) C63^® – Electromagnetic Compatibility, ANSI C63.4-2003, American National Standard for Methods of Measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range between 9 kHz and 40 GHz. ASC C63^® recently revised this standard and released (ANSI C63.4-2009) and developed a new standard, (ANSI C63.10-2009) specifically for intentional radiators operating in a wide range of frequency bands. OET has reviewed both the revised ANSI C63.4-2009 standard and the new ANSI C63.10-2009 standard and determined that it will accept equipment certification applications tested either to the ANSI C63.4-2003 procedures or the revised ANSI C63.4-2009 and new ANSI C63.10-2009 procedures.  Read the release from the FCC.RELATED ARTICLEExperts Weigh In on ANSI C63.10
