Since beginning construction of a $10.5-million research institute in Tianjin City, one of the four municipalities in China, in May to test products and components against international safety certification standards for electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic interference, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., recently announced that it will increase the number of its research and development staff in China to 5,000 in 2010, said Chief Technology Officer Li Xianghuan.The company’s China R&D staff has increased to 3,700 in 2009 from the previous 1,300.
