An Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection Diode Kit from OnChip Devices is intended to help designers reduce their time-to-market. The OC-ESD-K1 offers a wide assortment of ESD protection diodes for various applications such as high-speed I/O ports and systems that require 30-kV contact discharge protection when tested to IEC 61000 specifications. The integrated circuits and sub-micron geometries of today’s portable devices make them particularly susceptible to ESD failures and make protection via silicone-based TVS diodes essential. These combined low capacitance/high protection level diodes allow the designer to select the ideal component mix for effective EMC performance.
To encourage incorporation of these essential protection devices early in the design cycle, this kit consists of 12 different products including low-capacitance devices, I/O port specific products, and 30-kV contact ESD protection diodes—including the smallest available 0201-size flip-chip components. Each product type has 10 to 20 samples for bread-boarding and quick engineering evaluation. Many of the components are built using industry-standard SOT, SC70, MSOP, and DFN packages, and the number of channels offered ranges from 1 to eight per device.
