Ultra Thin Capacitor Utilizes Advanced Ceramic Technology

The new GRU series from Murata Electronics North America are ultra thin, embedded monolithic capacitors for substrates. Using advanced ceramic technology, the new 0402 size capacitor, measuring 0.1 mm x 0.5 mm x 0.15 mm, is built into the substrate for placement below ICs and other electronics. The use of proprietary dielectric material results in a profile of 150 µm with an external electrode formation to reduce the component’s thickness while simultaneously providing a capacitance of 0.1 µF. This built-in feature also enhances equipment performance by reducing wiring inductance. Other product features include a rated voltage of 6.3 VDC and X5R dielectric.
