The PEP01-5841 protection IC from STMicroelectronics simplifies the design of PoP (Power over Ethernet) or IEEE 802.3af-2003 products such as phones, wireless LAN access points, and RFID tag readers. In designs utilizing the PEPo1-5841 connection into a network, it is a nearby wall outlet is not needed, and no external AC/DC power adapter is required. This integrated protection IC meets the Power-over-Ethernet specifications and protects against high-voltage surges, including ESD (electrostatic discharge). The new PEP01-5841 integrates a 100-V clamping device and filtering capacitors for up to four PoE outputs in a single 5-mm x 6-mm component. It provides 1-kV surge protection as specified by IEC 61000-4-5, and ESD protection satisfies international standards such as IEC 61000-4-2 and MIL-STD-883 Method 3015.Look for additional product information on the STMicroelectronics website.
