The SiT9003 from SiTime Corporation is a programmable spread-spectrum oscillator said to consume one-third the power of comparable quartz-based solutions while reducing EM emissions by as much as 12 dB. Its standard footprint enables quartz replacement without system redesign or re-layout. It also features a number of programmable features including frequency, voltage, tolerance, and extent of spreading. Four standard package sizes and footprints are available. The smallest measures 2.5 mm x 2.0 mm and is clearly well suited to space-constrained applications. The device can be programmed for frequencies between 1 and 110 MHz and operating voltages of 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 2.8 V, or 3.3 V. Down-spread and center spread are also configurable. Extensive programmability allows users to streamline their vendor base and qualification efforts by using a single chip to replace a wide range of oscillators.Look for more product information on the SiTime website.
