PPM Test has announced a National Instruments certified LabVIEW driver for their world-leading EMP/EMC conformance test and measurement ‘Sentinel 3’ system.
Laboratory Instrument Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) is a system that helps users to visualize their applications from hardware configuration to debugging via graphical programming. Through being National Instruments certified, the driver uses the standard LabVIEW architecture and provides an ‘ease of use’ for the end-user by delivering a consistent methodology for instrument drivers from multiple sources. This helps to improve the consistency and quality of the drivers.
The new Sentinel 3 driver provides users with the building blocks to quickly create an application to control Sentinel 3 within the LabVIEW environment. They can create repeatable and consistent tests that improve data accuracy by removing the need for manual processing and, in turn, save time.
Further, LabVIEW allows users to select the Automatic Gain Control (AGC), temperature compensation and ‘Auto remote module detect mode’ of Sentinel 3, as well as sync the clock with a PC. The driver can also display the test information panel and the P1 dB, including the scaling. It presents the following data: TX & RX gain, stability, status, power mode, battery life, remaining battery charge, serial numbers, firmware Rev, model and IP configuration.
Sean Walker, PPM Test’s Customer Support Engineer, commented: “Sentinel 3’s integration into LabVIEW allows our users to directly reference the calibration tables with the system configuration data. This brings us much closer to a true unity gain, removing the additional need for post-processing of the data. It delivers test results in a much timelier manner.”
