As his term as president of the EMC Society winds down, Elya B. Joffe welcomed incoming president Francesca Maradei and offered some farewell remarks, including noting the significant accomplishments the society made over the last two years. Those accomplishments included the founding of new chapters, the addition of video to the Distinguished Lecturer Program, and continuation of the EMCS newsletter and global outreach activities.“The EMC Society was faced with, and successfully overcame, numerous challenges along the years, but the biggest danger of all still awaits us – that of self-content,” Joffe wrote. “The spirit and viability of the EMC Society of the IEEE are embedded in the IEEE letters: Inspire, Enable, Empower, Engage. Let us strive to further build upon the foundations set by our predecessors knowing there is always, always much more we can do for the further growth of the EMC Society.”Read Joffe’s statement below.
