Regular contributor to Interference Technology, Mike Violette of Washington Labs, recently joined a NIST-hosted US delegation on a three–day Standards in Trade workshop to Vietnam. Although this particular trip was aimed more at fire safety, it is part of a larger effort by U.S. standards organizations like NIST to reach out to developing markets, like Vietnam, helping them to develop their standards in the global framework. Vietnam is currently developing its EMC standards, as its electronics industry, and its own consumer market rapidly evolves. For an introduction to Vietnam’s EMC standards testing, go tohttp://quatest3.vn/htmls/testing.html.And for an insight into doing business in this fascinating new electronics market, read Mike’s travelogs here.
