CBS ArcSafe has announced a new product – a remote switch actuator for the ABB/Sace Tmax T7 low-voltage molded case circuit breakers with current ratings of 1000A through 1600A, say researchers.
Without any alterations to the actuators, the new over-toggle mechanisms will allow technicians to carefully open and close breakers out of harm’s way – since they will be outside of the arc-flash danger zone and this wont effect the actuator. The new remote switch also decreases technician’s needs for arc-flash suits. From 300 feet away, technicians will be able to complete the task at hand while in a less dangerous location.
Researchers state the RSA-174F requires no modifications to be installed and operated, and can be easily moved from one breaker to another quickly. Because of a video camera system, a custom storage case, and the 300-foot working range, the RSA-174F proves to be safer and easier to use, as well as more functional for technicians.
