Rohde & Schwarz recently announced a low-cost spectrum analyzer, the model HMS-X.
The new analyzer tunes from 100 kHz to 1.6 GHz (optionally, 3 GHz) and includes AM/FM demodulation. The display is a 6.5-inch VGA TFT and includes USB/RS-232 connectivity and control software. The base street price starts just over $3,000.
It’s primary features include a spectral purity greater than -100 dBc/Hz (at 100 kHz, SWEEP from 20 ms to 1000 s, detectors: auto-, min-/max.-peak, sample, RMS, average, quasi-peak (optional), miscellaneous marker/?marker and peak functions, tracking generator (optional) with a frequency range of 5 MHz to 1.6 GHz/3 GHz (optional) and an output level of -20 dBm to 0 dBm, the ability to directly export data to USB flash drive, RS-232/USB dual interface for remote control, plus a fanless design and fast boot time.
