Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced its new VYI Series of AC-line-rated ceramic disc safety capacitors. The capacitors offer reduced sizes, increased reliability and higher pulse strength up to 10 kV. The VYI Compact Series offers body diameters of 7.5 mm.
“Featuring Y5U ceramic dielectrics, the VY1 Compact series is optimized for RFI and AC line filtering applications in power supplies, power and smart meters, white goods, and consumer electronics. They offer a capacitance range from 470 pF to 4700 pF — with tolerances of ± 20 % — over a temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C,” according to Vishay Intertechnology.
The capacitors are made of copper-plated ceramic with thinned copper-clad steel connection leads. They are also halogen-free, RoHS-compliant and flame resistant.
