Expanded Line of Custom RF Filter SolutionsThe line of custom RF filters from ETS-Lindgren has been expanded to meet the growing number of requests for specialized filters. Value-added capabilities include extensive testing of all filter designs for high voltage and high current, endurance, and the appropriate testing requirements set forth in UL-1283, IEC 60939, MIL-F-15733, MIL-STD-220, and CISPR 17. Customers can work directly with design engineers to partner in seeking the optimal filter solution for a specific application. All filters are assembled and manufactured at ETS-Lindgren’s ISO 9001:2000-certified in Cedar Park, TX. Learn more about these expanded capabilities by visiting the ETS-Lindgren website. Inlet Device Offers Compact EMI Filtering Solution
The B84771A, the B84771C, the B84771M series of IEC inlet filters from EPCOS AG offers a cost-saving filter solution that combines an IEC connector and an EMI filter. The devices are reported to have good symmetrical and asymmetrical attenuation properties. The series covers currents from 1 amp to 15 amps at a rated voltage of 250 VAC, 50/60 Hz. These IEC inlet filters are available with or without a discharge resister. The B84771M series has a leakage current that does not exceed 2 µA. This feature makes the device particularly useful in applications such as medical devices in which low leakage currents are essential. All these filters were designed for climatic conditions of up to 85 degrees C; they are all RoHS compliant; ENEC, UL, and cUL approvals are pending. Other suitable applications include IT systems, SMPS, electronic POS systems, game consoles, and fitness equipment. See the original announcement on the EPCOS website. Three-Phase Filter Series Offers 320-A Performance in Compact Housing
The new KMF3320 Series has been added to its Roxburgh EMC filter line by UK-based DEM Manufacturing. The filters offer 320-amp performance in a 208- x 151- x 75-mm housing. This new offering represents a 10 percent power handling enhancement over previous filters. The KFM3320 is available with IPO and IP20 terminal covers and is supported by EMC testing. Thermal fuse enhancements are also available for additional safety monitoring in hazardous or high-reliability situations. The entire KMF product family is UL/cUL approved and now offers a range of 6 amps 1600 amps for cost effective light and heavy industrial filter applications. Specifically, the increased power of the KMF3320 series offers additional design flexibility in pump, fan, drive, and compressor system integration. See the announcement on the DEM website. Cavity Filter Targets Wireless Applications
The WiMax cavity filter from MtronPTI covers the 2.3-GHz to 2.7-GHz frequency range with emphasis on low-loss narrowband systems. The series utilizes a re-configurable design platform fully modeled in EM simulation software and has been tested using a stringent design certification process. The available bandwidth range is 0.04 to 0.20 percent 1 dB. A versatile configuration allows multiple cross-coupling schemes with transmission zeroes, placed on either side of the pass-band and in any combination. Standard housings can be reconfigured permitting reduced lead times for custom applications. Connector locations are flexible and configurable. These filters feature extended rejection performance, achieved with an integrated low-pass filter and can also be used in either Rx (radio receive) and/or Tx (radio transmit) mode. Modules with two, three, four, or six filters of identical or different configurations are available for systems applying MIMO or other antenna diversity technology. Duplexers can be developed using the same reconfigurable platform and are offered in a single unit or modules with duplexers. Find additional product information on the MtronPTI website. High Current Filters Target 150- to 2500-A Applications
The HCW Series of filters has been launched by Barcelona-based PREMO EMC. These three-phase, filters are intended for high current applications (150 to 2500) amps including UPSs, mining industry equipment, energy regeneration converters, and industrial machinery with converters and inverters of up to 2000 kVA. One particular application where it has proved especially useful has been in wind mill converters, in which high current filters are essential. These devices provide high attenuation (from 9 kHz to 30 MHz) in both common and differential modes because of their unique double-stage design. Additionally, the HCW filters can be used in high-current solar converters —e.g., 500 kVA—where an elevator isolation transformer is not required, a design option that results in higher current at the converter output. These devices comply with UL1283 and EN60939. Look for more information on the PREMO website. Chip Varistor Features EMI Filter Function
The AVF26BA12A400R211 BGA chip varistor from TDK Corporation includes an EMI filter function and is well suited to applications such as mobile phones, portable music players, and digital video and still cameras. Each chip contains 30 elements and can be used to in create 10-line ESD countermeasures. The devices mounting area of this product is 1.3 less than previous devices; and with its inherent EMI filtering function further countermeasure components are unnecessary.Find further information on the TDK website.
