100-Position PCB Connector Include EMI Protection
The MDM PCB connector from ITT Interconnects is a microminiature connector capable of providing 100 signals in a lightweight, compact package. This connector features contact pitch spacing of 0.050″ and provides maximum signal density for applications where PCB space is at a premium. EMI shielding has been integrated into this device, a special back molding process, so they are well suited to demanding applications in avionics, oil field exploration, electronic instrument packages, and satellite systems. Housed in an aluminum shell with WL/LCP dielectric, the connector features a twist pin contact system along with crimped gold-plated contacts to ensure high signal integrity. Multiple plating options and jack post hardware are also available. Find the original product announcement on the ITT Interconnects’ website.Socket Connectors with Profibus Cable Include EMI Protection
An M-12 shielded panel mounted male or female connector from Binder-USA comes pre-assembled for Profibus and Ethernet users. The Profibus receptacles are available in front- or rear-mount design for mounting to control cabinets. The die-cast zinc housing has a galvanic connection to the braided shield of the cable to assure excellent protection from EMI. The IP-67 rating protects the contacts from liquids and debris. These connectors are currently offered in the B-coded version with a standard cable length of 0.5 meters. Both male and female connectors are available with two gold-plated contacts crimped with a twisted pair of wires. Rated current is 4 amps at maximum operating voltage of 250 V. Additional product information can be found on the Binder-USA website. Cage Improves Connectivity and Provides EMI Shielding
The SFP032-L is part of an expanded line of connectors and cages from Pulse Engineering, Inc. This 2×8, small form factor pluggable cage targets Ethernet networking equipment and is used for connecting transceivers and for shielding them from EMI. The device has a two-piece structure to prevent deforming during press fitting, and press fitting is applied only to the cage’s top section, while forces on either side of the cage are balanced so they will not twist and buckle. To prevent interference with the transceiver, an improved EMI tab rests on the cage so that the end does not sink into the cage when pressed. A special latch accommodates a wide variety of transceivers and transceiver modifications, including those with short-travel actuating slides, which are commonly difficult to unlock and extract. The SFP032-L measures 25.5 mm high x 53.25 mm deep x 114.25 mm wide. It handles speeds up to 5 Gbits and improves connectivity in high density PCB environments. The cage reduces the operating temperature of the transceiver, protects the transceiver from EMI, provides mechanical stability, and allows for easy transceiver plug in. The PX0888, the latest addition to Bulgin’s waterproof Ethernet Buccaneer connector system is an EMI-shielded backshell. For instances where complete shielding is required, this metal backshell, PX0888, fits around the connector to provide a 360-degree bond to the panel, thereby closing any potential EMI/RFI windows. Assembly is straightforward; the screening can fixes the rear of the paneling using the existing connector panel nut, and a cover provides continuity between the connector screen and the can. This device maintains screening directly to the panel so it will eliminate any potential EMC issues when using a plastic connector in electrically noisy environments. See the Bulgin website for further product information. D-Subminiature Connectors Incorporate Ferrite for Shielding
The Series 400 (Series F) connectors from Spectrum Control incorporate a solid slab of ferrite material as the filtering element. The rugged one-piece design provides a compact connector that is a drop-in replacement for standard connectors—e.g., they are interchangeable with standard D-subminiature connectors. The ferrite material has been chosen for optimum filtering performance in the 10- to 300-MHz range. This connector provides pin-to-ground and pin-to-pin filtering. With their space-saving .318″ footprint, these connectors can be installed directly over a PCB trace pattern with no shorting. A 4-40 UNC locking insert eliminates loose hardware. The C16-3 shielded plastic EMI connectors from Amphenol-Tuchel Electronics combine the advantages of metal and plastic in one product. A new carbon fiber-filled material features superior EMI shielding performance and can be used in applications that had heretofore required metal connectors. The connector housing exhibits good conductive performance along with substantial durability for harsh environment applications. The lightweight connectors are protected against dust and splash water and are, therefore, IP65 rated. The C16-3 series handles currents up to 30 amps and comes in many different contact layouts.Find more product information online.
