Hi everyone! I’m the new editor-in-chief of Interference Technology – a 40 year old publication that continues to serve and grow its readership. In this role, I plan to build on the good work of the previous editor – Kenneth Wyatt – by selectively broadening the publication into newer technical areas where EMI, EMC, and ESD have become an issue. My goal is to provide a larger systems view to include how these technologies are being modeled, simulated, designed, built, tested, verified, implemented and maintained in a number of relatively new application areas including the Internet-of-Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, 5G, chip-board packaging and even system-of-systems (SoS).
This doesn’t mean that the traditional markets of electrical/electronic components and modules, avionics, medical, defense and the like will get any less coverage. Instead, I’m hoping that the EMI, EMC and ESD challenges and detailed solutions for these areas will be re-invigorated with a larger perspective.
My own background as engineer, professor, and journalist will be helpful in achieving this goal. But I’ll still need and welcome inputs from both readers and sponsors via emails, comments on the website and social media, and in face-to-face chats during conferences. Please feel free to engage with me and to contribute content to Interference Technology!
Cheers – John
