RFID Solutions Provider Impinj has acquired the UHF RFID chip operation of Intel Corporation. Chip maker Intel had developed the awarding-winning R1000 RFID reader chip. The acquisition of Intel’s RFID unit enhances the range of Impinj’s RFID offerings. It is especially noteworthy that the single R1000 chip enables 90 percent of the components required all reader form factors—fixed, mobile, embedded, and others—in applications across various vertical markets including supply chain management, asset tracking, authentication, and access control.
