A detailed examination of radiated field and transmitted power test techniques

ABSTRACT
HIGH PULSED E-FIELD TEST LEVELS increased at the end of the 1990s. At the same time, many efforts were made to develop a very efficient test technique with the mode-stirred chamber. However, by improving the antenna design and test distances, comparable levels can be radiated on small-sized equipment installed in an anechoic chamber. This paper briefly compares the radiated E-field vis-a-vis the transmitted power efficiency of the two techniques and then deals with the improvement of antennas.
INTRODUCTION
Some of the preparation work done by one company in the performance of high level HIRF testing in an anechoic chamber is presented including:• Comparison of test method efficiency for short rise-times and small-sized equipment.• Simple computation methods to improve antenna design and use.• Field measurements.• Other usable antennas.Click below to read a pdf of the article.
