The U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency (LIA) has awarded two firms a contract to install and demonstrate a satellite-based Next-Generation, Wireless Communications (NGWC) tracking, security, and monitoring capability on containerized shipments of arms, ammunition, and explosives. Specifically, ARINC, Inc. and Impreva Labs, Inc. have developed an NGWC that is HERO (hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance) certified and that operates completely within the DoD environment. The initial demonstration of this capability will track an outbound shipment originating from a depot in the western United States during the next 30 days. A follow-up demonstration will track shipments outbound to their final destination and will also track retrograde shipments returning from in-theater ammunitions supply points back to the U.S.Find further details at the ARINC website.
