The Federal Communications Commission’s Office of Engineering and Technology has issued KDB Publication 610077 detailing the requirements of telecommunications bodies (TCBs) to conduct post market surveillance of products they have certified. The document details a typical procedure that fulfills the requirements and addresses several issues that may arise in implementing a post-market surveillance program. One significant change is that the required audit sampling requirements have been raised from two to five percent. The entire document has been posted online at the American TCB website. The reliability of today’s products depends not only on testing but on post-market auditing.
