Donald Heirman, a distinguished member of the EMC Community, has been named a 2008 winner of the International Electrotechnical Commission’s Lord Kelvin award. This prestigious honor, which bares the name of British engineering pioneer William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, is presented annually for outstanding contributions to global Electrotechnical standardization. He spent thirty years at Bell Laboratories (later Lucent Technologies) Global Product Compliance Laboratories.. He chairs, or is a principal contributor to, U.S. and international EMC standards organizations including ANSI ASC C63® and the IEC’s Special International Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR). He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE and a Life Member of the IEEE EMC Society, a member of the society’s Board of Directors, its vice president for standards, chair of its technical committee on EMC measurements, and a past president and past chair of its Standards Development Committee.
