This course, previously presented to more than 2500 students, was developed over the past 22 years. In the one-day workshop (the 4th day), you will apply the material just learned to a practical application enabling immediate reinforcement of the concepts learned in the seminar. The class and workshop will help you to improve your design skills in minimizing emissions and increasing your product’s immunity. We will take the equations covered in the textbook “Design Techniques for Controlling Radiated Emissions” and help you make calculations both manually (to understand how they work) and with computer programs to add to your speed, accuracy and understanding. We will then use the programs to analyze a commercial PC (at a speed ~95% of what most are presently using in their designs), and see how our calculations compare to this real life product. The class and materials include:
-
Instructors with a combined experience of 75 plus years in Electrical and EMC Design.
-
A combination of PowerPoint slides, video, computer programs and live presentations to help you learn in multiple ways.
-
Sample problems we will work through together to give you a working knowledge of the concepts covered.
-
Worksheets and step-by-step examples of how to design a product to meet the various “World Emissions and Immunity Requirements”.
-
The textbook, “Controlling Radiated Emissions by Design, 2nd edition” by Michel Mardiguian presented throughout the class.
-
A notebook containing copies of all the slides presented, with room for your own personal notes allowing you to refer to them when you return to work.
-
A CD containing all the programs used in the class along with supplemental material.
-
A FREE product review, where we will apply the ideas of the class one-on-one to your own product. If you don’t have a product, we can talk about ideas for future products. Confidentiality agreements are available for your convenience.
What’s a FREE product review? You will be given the opportunity to sit down with an EMC engineer and discuss your own company’s product, with the added knowledge and understanding you have just learned. One class member said after his product review, “I would not have understood many of the items you pointed out which I needed to change, had I not had the class beforehand. I can now go back and make changes to my product with the confidence I will do it right!”What you should bring to the class and workshop:
-
Your desire to learn.
-
A calculator.
-
A laptop computer (useful, but not required) running MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Excel. We will provide power.
