Australian defense technology firm Metal Storm has announced that it has conducted successful electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing on its 40-mm ammunition tail propulsion system. Testing was conducted at a National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited facility in Melbourne and was the most rigorous performed as yet on Metal Storm technology. Metal Storm CEO Dr. Lee Finniear said that the tests showed no significant flaws in the Metal Storm tail technology. He noted that EMC compliance was a first order priority in terms of getting Metal Storm technology certified for use within its intended operational environment. The actual test process was closely aligned with relevant military standards and is a step toward formal military EMC certification for munitions. Metal Storm’s official announcement is posted online.
