Though the level of general concern about possible harmful effects from radio frequency radiation given off by mobile phones, wireless networks and smart meters has decreased in recent years, a small percentage of the population remains convinced that the electromagnetic radiation from wireless technology is dangerous.
Patients with one condition, electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS), suffer a variety of symptoms from heart palpitations to migraines that they claim are caused by radio frequency radiation. However, according to Dr. David Michelson, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at UBC, radio frequency signals are “a billion times weaker than anything [the human body] could sense.”
EHS is not recognized as a medical diagnosis by the World Health Organization.
