A custom EMI protective telecommunication equipment cabinet designed and built by LBA Group, Inc. has been installed along a new light rail route that will run between Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.
Created in response to a request by Minneapolis Light Rail project contractor Aldridge Electrical, the cabinets will protect critical control systems from radio frequency interference in over 30 wayside equipment shelters along the route.
“As new rail lines in the US are built and older infrastructure is upgraded with wireless control, communication and Positive Train Control (PTC) systems, the potential for additional risks is elevated with radio frequency interference requiring careful analysis and mitigation to ensure electromagnetic compatibility,” Dr. Chris Horne, chief technical officer at LBA, said.
