About $26 million worth of Idaho defense and weapons-related projects are closer to being funded by the federal government after winning approval from the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee. The funding includes $1 million for Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls to study electric grid reliability/assurance. This project would develop the capability to perform research and testing of the effects of electromagnetic pulse attacks on the electric power grid and associated control systems, critical communications systems and other defense critical infrastructure.
