Michael Doyle, lead Electro-Magnetics technologist for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System Program at Naval Air Systems Command has been chosen as a “2010 Top Scientists and Engineers of the Year.”
In a ceremony at the Pentagon, Doyle was recognized as the Navy’s leading expert in high energy, high power electromagnetic systems as they relate to launching and recovering aircraft. In 2010, his hard work was essential in the Navy’s first historic launch of an aircraft utilizing the EMALS system.
The EMALS system, along with the Advanced Arresting Gear program, which have both been in research, development, production and now testing, are the critical technologies leading a new era of naval aviation that will enable aircraft to more safely and efficiently launch and recover aboard ships at sea.Learn more from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
