3M has announced that it is bringing Sonitor’s high definition, ultra-sound based Real Time Location System (RTLS) technology to its Track and Trace customer base. RTLS technology, which is already deployed in several leading hospitals, automatically tracks, with room-level or sub-room level accuracy, the location of mobile equipment or people within complex environments such as large urban medical centers. The official announcement reiterated assurances from Sonitor that its ultra-sound based system does not pose any interference threat to sensitive medical equipment such as the incidents detailed in a controversial Dutch study published last month in the Journal of the American Medical Association. See the official announcement at the Sonitor website. Testing of medical equipment is just one aspect of the ever-increasing challenges of compliance testing before a product is released. If you have a testing question, challenge, or dilemma, let Interference Technology readers mull it over. Just post it to the new Testing Forum.
