The Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) has announced that four certification bodies that could certify electronics as qualifying for the all important CCC mark have now been merged into one certification body. The CCC is the vital “stamp of approval” that allows products into the burgeoning Chinese marketplace. Specifically, Conformity Assessment Services, Ltd.; China Standard Certification Center; China Certification Center for Electromagnetic Compatibility; and Beijing Landbridge Quality Inspection Certification now make up the new certification body, China Quality Certification.More familiarly, CIC, CSC, CEMC, and CAIQ are now CQC. All certificates issued by those four former bodies remain valid through December 31, 2008. Manufacturers will be required to fill out forms for a re-issue of their CCC mark. They will be required to provide their original certification and a copy of the latest CCC factory inspection report carried out by one of the former entities. Essential information included on the re-issued certificate will not change, just the name of the certification body. Manufacturers are urged to begin the process to receive a re-issued certificate before the deadline at year’s end.Detailed information can be found on the CQC website.
