Romania’s Ministry of Communications has proposed a bill that will allow telecommunication operators to pay less to use radio frequencies if the frequencies are interfered by other radio stations. Radio interference from other radio communication stations can greatly affect the telecom operator’s work.
The Ministry released the draft of the bill while a disagreement between telecom operator Vodafone and Romania’s Communications Authority ANCOM was heating up. “Vodafone has asked ANCOM to pay it EUR 15 million worth of damages, because it couldn’t use a part of the spectrum acquired in 2012 from the Romanian state in over 20 counties, due to interference caused by communication companies from Ukraine,” according to Romania Insider.
