The Federal Aviation Administration released a Notice of Presumed Hazard against a proposed 443-foot high Ferris Wheel on the water front in San Diego, Calif. The FAA believes the structure will cause electromagnetic interference and affect navigation systems in aircraft.
In the notice, the FAA stated if the wheel does not exceed 277 feet the government could issue a favorable determination. However, if developers want the ferris wheel to be 433 feet high, further studies will be necessary.
The San Diego Port Commissioners attended a hearing earlier this month regarding plans for the production of the Ferris wheel. The developers stand by their project, and a final decision has not yet been made.
