The Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (L-A-B), a division of the Accreditation Services Bureau (A-S-B), has announced that the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) now accepts L-A-B accreditation for testing laboratories seeking recognition by the Commission to perform testing of telecommunications equipment subject to the Commission’s rules.
An independent third-party accreditation body, L-A-B is recognized by both L-A-B is recognized by both NACLA (National Cooperation for Laboratory Accreditation) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation in the fields of calibration and testing. L-A-B is utilized by many regulators and specifiers for the delivery of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation in conjunction with sector specific/regulatory requirements.
“Laboratory accreditation has been incorporated into the laws of the United States by the FCC. As the fourth accreditation body accepted (three private and one government), L-A-B’s accredited EMC laboratories in this program may test product to be placed on the market with no further government approval for EMC criteria. This recognition is an honor and a result of many years of hard work by our dedicated professional staff and expert technical advisory group,” R. Douglas Leonard Jr., A-S-B president, said in response to the FCC recognition.
