The Schaffner Group, a provider of EMC and power quality solutions, has announced its ECOsine passive harmonic filters are now available as open frame modules with extended power rating up to 400 kW/50 Hz and 500 HP/60 Hz.
According to the company, the new modular filter concept specifically targets the requirements of integrators and the challenges of fitting a large amount of electrical equipment into tight motor control centers and electrical cabinets. The new filters do not require an enclosure, enabling them to be incorporated directly into the customer’s own cabinet. The chokes module is designed for easy placement at the bottom of the cabinet, while the capacitor and RC-damper modules can be placed wherever cabinet space is available.
The new modular high power ECOsine filters are available in two versions: FN 3410 filters for 380-500V, 50 Hz grids, available with standard ratings from 200 to 400k; and FN 3412 filters for 380-480 V, 60 Hz grids, available for power ratings from 300 to 500 HP. Filter modules are UL-recognized, CE-marked and RoHS-compliant. They are particularly suitable for applications involving variable speed drives with DC-link chokes, where the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the load current must be reduced to ~5%. Other applications include high power battery chargers, UPS, three-phase power supplies and other equipment with balanced 6-pulse rectifier front-end.
