Technical, safety and certification services provider TÜV Rheinland has announced a new global test mark to replace all other previously implemented TÜV Rheinland test seals. The new test mark will be implemented on all products tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland.
According to TÜV Rheinland, the adoption of a single global test mark—in contrast to the 130 different test marks currently in use worldwide—will reportedly increase the mark’s “recognition factor” and enhance testing certainty by certifying that the testing was completed by TÜV Rheinland according to independent rules and that no product piracy occurred.
In addition, a QR code included as part of the new test mark will increase the amount of background information available for the marked product or system. The QR code can be scanned for information on manufacturers, testing criteria, raw materials, production processes and working conditions.
