The University of Minnesota is suing the Metropolitan Council, alleging the agency isn’t doing enough to mitigate the “adverse affects” construction of the new light-rail line will have on the school, including vibration and electromagnetic interference. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court. University officials have said the school supports the Central Corridor project, but not enough action is being taken to make sure that sensitive research equipment is protected from vibration and EMI from the line. Eighty laboratories in 17 buildings near the proposed light rail route would be affected, the university said. Find out more about the lawsuit.
