The Canadian University of Waterloo’s Engineering Department has opened a new six-story, $55 million building, which features a design center big enough for designing and building solar cars, alternative fuels, and other large projects. At its north end, Engineering 5 contains an electromagnetic radiation laboratory, featuring an anechoic chamber, a shielded room designed to attenuate radio frequency and microwaves. The chamber, which received funding from Research In Motion and other sources, will be used for research in wireless communications.Learn more from the 570 news website.
