A fake advertisement has made its way onto computer screens across the country – informing people that the new iPhone 6 can be wirelessly charged by placing it in a microwave for a minute and a half due to a capability known as “the Wave.” This information is false; however, the Los Angeles Police Department still alerted people to let them know the ad is fake and to not follow this advice.
The fake ad suggests that “the wave” works because it has “new drivers that interface with your device’s radio-baseband allowing it to synchronize with microwave frequencies and use them to recharge your battery.”
Do not attempt to charge your iPhone in the microwave – it does not work and you will only destroy your electronic device.
