Linear Technology Corporation announced its new high performance digital temperature sensor IC – the LTC2983. The LTC2983 is RoHS compliant and supports temperatures ranging from 0 to 70 degrees Celsius and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. This temperature sensor also directly digitizes RTDs, Thermocouples, Thermistors and Diodes with an accuracy of 0.1 degrees Celsius.
“The simple, yet feature-rich, LTC2983 interfaces with a wide variety of temperature sensors, including type B, E, J, K, N, S, R, T thermocouples, 2,3, or 4-wire RTDs, 2.25kΩ to 30kΩ thermistors and temperature sensing diodes. The LTC2983 works with ground referenced sensors without the need for amplifiers, negative supplies, or level shift circuitry. Signals are simultaneously digitized with three, high accuracy, 24-bit ΔΣ ADCs using an internal 10ppm/°C reference,” according to the company.
Other features of the LTC2983 include: 20 flexible inputs, automatic thermocouple cold junction compensation, automatic burn out, short-circuit and fault detection, buffered inputs, simultaneous rejection of 50Hz/60Hz, and more.
