Starting June 13th the R&TTE Directive, and the DoC’s based on that Directive will be officially withdrawn and will no longer be valid. The new Radio Equipment Directive (RED) will be fully in effect.
Technically all applicable products placed on the EU market after June 12 must show compliance to the RED, and must have an updated DoC citing the RED, as well as verification of applicable standards that can be used to show compliance. These too have gone through a great change. Included under the RED are requirements for compliance with Article 3.2 (RF spectrum use), Article 3.1b (EMC) and Article 3.1a (Health & Safety).
There are no grandfather clauses available for compliance under the Radio Equipment Directive. These recent changes are applicable to any product placed on the market, even if there had been subsequent product placed on the market prior to the June 13th date. To ensure your products meet the requirements for CE compliance and their ability to legally bear the CE mark, ask a DLS technical staff member to assist in the determination of compliance regulations and standards for your products, or visit www.dlsemc.com/EU to find more information and to see a list of harmonized standards.
