ParkerVision, Inc., a developer and marketer of semiconductor technology solutions for wireless applications, has won the first phase of its patent infringement lawsuit against Qualcomm. The company filed a federal suit in 2011 seeking unspecified damages and injunctive relief for what it said was infringement of six of those patents related to radio-frequency receivers and the down-conversion of electromagnetic signals.
The trial will proceed immediately with the second phase, which will focus on monetary damages caused by the infringement. ParkerVision revealed as part of a joint pretrial statement last month that it is seeking nearly $500 million in damages.
