A configurable PDF Drawing feature offered by Tech-Etch aids purchasers of both single-piece and two-piece board level shields. Users simply go to the Tech-Etch website. The first step is choosing either through-hole mounting with pins or standard surface mounting. Depending on the user’s choice, seam options and required dimensions are then filled in. Next, the metal material and finish are chosen. If desired, vents, access holes, and slots are described along with depth-etched part numbers or logos—all of which can be incorporated at no cost. The photo-etching process used to create the shields supports very intricate geometries without costly tooling. Shields can also be supplied with an insulating layer of polyimide within the shield cavity. To view these design features, go to the Tech-Etchwebsite.
