EMPACT America, a non-profit founded by a NY businessman, has slated an international conference “Protecting America Against Electromagnetic Pulse.” The event will take place at the Niagara Falls Conference Center, September 8 through 10. Former speaker of the House Newt Gingrich will present opening remarks via-video. In-person speakers will include experts on EMP representing Congress, the military, academia, and the private sector. The conference will focus on the nation’s vulnerability to an EMP attack, as well as response, preparedness, and recovery strategies. Henry Schwartz, founder of EMPACT America, noted “Government and industry must devote coordinated energy and funding to protect our nation’s electric-power, telecommunications, food, healthcare, financial, and other infrastructures from the devastating potential of major natural disasters, conventional terrorist threats, cyber attacks, and an EMP attack. Erie County, NY executive Chris Collins joined Schwartz in calling for local and national EMP preparedness efforts.Look for further details on the EMPACT America website.
