FigerGraf Materials has introduced a new nickel-coated graphite fiber particle additive for EMI/RFI shielding applications.
GrafMat A280N60 offers a 280 micron average particle size, while GrafMat A90N60 is about one-third smaller at 90 microns. The particles of both grades are coated with 60 percent weight addition nickel that encapsulates each particle individually.
According to the company, GrafMat powder offers high EMI/RFI shielding effectiveness at a lower cost and processes faster and more efficiently than other shielding additives. In addition, the powder can be compounded to higher loading levels and can replace multi-component formulas.
Particle size distributions and the amount of nickel can be customized according to customer specifications. Other metal coatings such as aluminum, silver and silicon carbide can also be incorporated.
