Semiconductor company ProTek Devices has released a new series of transient voltage suppressor (TVS) components that provide circuit protection for switching transients across the DC line in sensitive electronics, including smartphones, battery chargers and other portable consumer electronic devices.
According to the company, the PSDxxHP series “provides electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrostatic overstress (EOS) and electrical fast transient (EFT) protection within a small footprint package.” In combination with passive components integrated into a TVS / filter network, the PSDxxHP series can also be used for EMI/RFI protection. The PSD05HP is provided in a five-volt configuration, while the PSD12HP is provided in a 12-volt configuration.
Both devices “exceed the requirements of 61000-4-2 (ESD) and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT)” and meet the IEC 61000-4-5 standard for surge testing.
