Vacuum Interrupters Inc. has announced its new rigid magnetic coil for the MAC-TS4 Vacuum Interrupter Tester, which will allow technicians to test vacuum interrupters in GE PowerVac breakers in place without disassembling. This coil is the first developed that is portable and easy to use.
The PowerVac rigid magnetic field coil can be used with the MAC-TS4 test set, and it slides over the PowerVac pole assembly, allowing the technician to determine the interrupter’s remaining lifespan without removing the vacuum interrupter. The MAC-TS4 and rigid coils reduce the downtime required to test vacuum interrupters in the field and help prevent unnecessary damage to circuit breakers and contactors by identifying possible impending failures.
“Utilizing the Penning discharge principle, our MAC-TS4 vacuum interrupter tester, or test set, can easily determine the pressure inside a vacuum interrupter and this, along with wear, age and number of operations, predicts the usable life of the vacuum interrupters used in your circuit breakers and contactors. Until now, this type of testing could only be done at the assembly plant,” Finley Ledbetter, CEO of Vacuum Interrupters Inc., said.
